A gas fitter has been fined for exposing farm workers to the risk of an explosion or carbon monoxide poisoning, plumbers liability insurance holders have been told.
Roger David Manning, 60, from Hereford, pleaded guilty to three breaches of Section 7 of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and breaching Regulation 6(3) of the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998.
He was fined a total of ?2,000 and ordered to pay costs of ?1,600.
Hereford Magistrates Court heard how Mr Manning was prosecuted after a string of faults, which included failing to carry out a number of safety checks in caravans used to house migrant workers around Shropshire and Herefordshire.
David Kivlin, Health and Safety Executive inspector, said: "Seasonal workers on farms across Shropshire and Herefordshire were put at serious risk because of Mr Manning?s poor workmanship. It?s extremely lucky no one was harmed by his substandard and dangerous work."
Earlier this year, Chris Bradshaw, of Tywyn, was prosecuted for illegal gas work.
