The dangers of asbestos were made clear to prospective plumbers liability insurance customers at a special training session in Scotland last week.

Trainee tradesmen at Aberdeen College were told of the dangers of the material as well as how best to handle it. They also received a warning from Christopher Morgan, a former pipe fitter who has undergone treatment for asbestos-related disease mesothelioma.

Run by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), the course was part of the group's 'hidden killer' campaign which is running throughout November.

Sean Proud, a trainee plumber who attended the event, said: "The talk was very informative. I knew what asbestos was but not what it actually looked like. It was good to know the types of places that I might come across it."

The HSE's £1.2 million campaign is attempting to warn plumbers liability insurance customers through a number of radio and poster adverts about the dangers of asbestos, where it is likely to be found and what to do if it is discovered.ADNFCR-2022-ID-19448904-ADNFCR
