Painters liability insurance holders can now access a number of tips about how best to protect themselves from injury when working at height.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has published its work at height access equipment information toolkit (WAIT), showing people how to assess the risks and select the correct equipment for the job they are about to undertake.
Its basic tips state that any work at height should be properly planned, appropriately supervised and not carried out in any dangerous weather conditions, while workers should also be competent enough to complete the task safely and be able to erect or dismantle any equipment safely.
Statistics on the WAIT website showed that since 2001, an average of 50 people have died in Britain every year as a result of falls from height, with a further 8,700 being seriously injured.
Earlier this month, Tregroes Waffle Bakery was fined £1,750 with costs of £1,374 after a worker fell more than four feet at its factory in Wales.
