Workers who frequently deal with chemicals are being warned of the potential dangers involved with the process.

According to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), those who work with bioscopes, such as painters and decorators, are particularly at risk.

The warnings come after the sector watchdog announced it is to launch a ten-week consultation on a European Commission proposal concerning the use of these chemicals, which may interest those with painters and decorators insurance.

Judith Hackett, chair of the HSE, described the discussions as an "important opportunity".

"We are consulting widely to ensure that workable regulations are brought forward, which reflect a common sense and proportionate approach to dealing with the risks posed by biocides," she explained.

Recently, the HSE launched a national campaign encouraging employees to use the correct hand protection when working with bleaches and other erosive materials, which may apply to painters and decorators liability insurance customers.ADNFCR-2022-ID-19290791-ADNFCR
