An Ilkeston joiner died after exposure to asbestos during his work contributed to his cancer, public liability insurance holders have been told.
The Ilkeston Advertiser reported that Eric Beeby, 83, of Ilkeston, died as a result of a form of lung cancer caused by smoking and exposure to the deadly asbestos material.
At an inquest into his death, consultant pathologist Dr Ivan Robinson said that Mr Beeby had been exposed to significant fibres working as a shop fitter and joiner.
He told joiners liability insurance holders that asbestos "definitely" contributed to Mr Beeby's death, but added that there could be other factors involved.
The source reported that wife June Beeby said her husband had never been provided with masks or protective clothing and that he had not realised the dangers of working with asbestos.
Earlier this week, the Eastbourne Herald reported that, John Blake, 86, from Seaford died after exposure to asbestos during his time working in a factory.
