The next generation of public liability insurance holders in Dorset have been given a special training session on the dangers of asbestos.
Bournemouth and Poole College hosted the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) event on November 26th as part of the body's 'hidden killer' campaign.
Trainee tradesmen were told about the dangers of breathing in the deadly asbestos fibres, advised where they are most likely to find it and how best to protect themselves if they do.
Sarah Mallagh, an asbestos expert for the HSE, said that it is not just a risk of a bygone age and tradesmen cannot afford to be complacent.
"It is still present in thousands of buildings and risks being disturbed or damaged by the work they do," she added.
As part of other tours around UK colleges, prospective public liability insurance holders have been shown a video from campaign supporter Christopher Morgan, a former pipe fitter who has undergone intensive treatment for mesothelioma an asbestos-related cancer.
