A self-employed man from Aberdare has been sent to jail for the second time for carrying out gas work after ignoring a Health and Safety Executive (HSE) prohibition notice.
Kenneth Parry, 55, from Trecynon, pleaded guilty to one charge under Section 22 of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and another under the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998 and was jailed for six months.
Brecon Magistrates Court heard how Mr Parry illegally removed a central heating boiler and installed a new combination boiler at a property in Brecon in 2008.
An investigation by the HSE revealed that the boiler was classified as 'at risk' as it had not been set to the correct pressure or fitted to correctly-sized pipework.
Mr Parry was jailed for four months in 2007 for a similar breach of a prohibition notice and for carrying out gas work without proper accreditation.
Earlier this month, public liability insurance holders were told that Paul Bailey, 54, of Nottingham, was given a 12-month community service order for carrying out work with falsely-issued gas safety certificates.
