A workplace risk partnership has been set up between British Sugar and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), public liability insurance holders have been told.

David Ashton, director of field operations for the HSE, signed a memorandum of understanding wtih Gino De Jaegher, managing director of British Sugar UK & Ireland, which will aim to reduce accident and ill-health risks in the workplace.

Furthermore, the HSE has agreed to continue to develop sensible risk control systems for the firm, while British Sugar will play its part by striving to be an exemplar in occupational health and safety.

"British Sugar has put considerable effort into making improvements to its health and safety performance over the last five years – and the results clearly demonstrate how uniting employers and employees together can create safer and healthier workplaces," said Mr Ashton.

Recently, British Sugar achieved recognition from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, including an Order of Distinction across a number of its sites.ADNFCR-2022-ID-19884242-ADNFCR
