A Nottinghamshire man has been taken to hospital following an incident on a construction site in the region.

The accident occurred when an employee who was doing building work at the Staythorpe power station near Newark was hit by a falling pipe, according to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), which illustrates the need for builders liability insurance.

His legs were crushed by the pipe and he was immediately taken to a medical facility by an air ambulance, where he remains in a serious condition, the GMB union stated.

Andy Fletcher, an official at GMB, said the HSE will now be launching an investigation into why the accident occurred and how the man suffered his crushing injuries.

Recently, a Worcestershire man was crushed to death by a mechanical digger on a building site off Claybrook Drive and Heming Road in Redditch, according to a spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, illustrating the need for public liability insurance. ADNFCR-2022-ID-19331125-ADNFCR
