Builders liability insurance holders have been reminded that new tower crane regulations are set to come into force later this year.

The Notification of Conventional Tower Cranes Regulations 2010 will apply from April 6th and requires certain information about the machines used on construction sites to be passed on to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

New rules state that the HSE should be given details of the name and address of the owner or lessor of conventional tower cranes, as well as details of the construction site where it has been installed.

The crane's date of manufacture, serial number, colour and anything else that can identify it should also be passed on to the HSE.

Regulations also state that builders liability insurance holders can give these details through craneregister.org.uk or via a form which can be filled out and posted to the HSE's Cranes Register.

Last year, HSE inspector Amanda Huff reminded builders liability insurance holders that full training should be given before workers use a tower crane.ADNFCR-2022-ID-19585900-ADNFCR
