Companies and employees are being advised to take extra precautions on building sites following an incident in which a man fell from scaffolding and died

The accident occurred on Monday August 10th, when a 31-year-old worker on a site in Hastings, East Sussex, fell from the structure and was killed, prompting the launch of an investigation by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

"Incidents such as these can easily be prevented by companies taking the correct measures to protect employees and contractors," the organisation advised.

The HSE pointed to recent statistics which revealed that the construction sector has the highest number of fatal injuries of the main industry groups, with 72 fatalities occurring in 2007-08.

Recently, Hull man Francis Caley was been fined after a worker fell five metres through a roof and suffered serious injuries including a fractured spine, pelvis and hip, illustrating the need for employers liability insurance. ADNFCR-2022-ID-19334331-ADNFCR
