Builders liability insurance holders have been warned after a roofer was fined for putting himself and two other employees at risk of falling more than seven metres from a building.
Dean Paul Shaw, trading as Streamline Guttering and Cladding of Leicestershire, pleaded guilty to three breaches of the Work At Height Regulations 2005, and was fined £4,950, with costs of £1,314.40.
Loughborough Magistrates Court heard how Mr Shaw put himself and his employees at risk by not providing adequate safety equipment or appropriate supervision.
Mhairi Lockwood, an inspector for the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), said: "Falls from height cause more workplace deaths than anything else. HSEs current Shattered Lives campaign promotes awareness of the serious consequences of slips, trips and falls."
Earlier this week builders liability insurance holders were invited to a special training event in Wirral aimed at spreading the word about the dangers which are created by working at height.
