More than 200 construction workers attended a health and safety event in the north east recently to help reduce fatal and other serious accidents in the industry, builders liability insurance holders have been told.
Among the professionals who attended were builders, scaffolders, roofers, electricians, joiners and painters.
They were given a series of presentations on topics including protecting themselves from silica dust and tips on manual handling safety.
It also marked the launch of a new industry awareness group - Working Well Together North East.
Rob Hirst, principal Health and Safety Executive inspector, said: "The day was a huge success and the fact that so many construction workers attended shows just how important the industry considers health and safety issues."
Pat McCourt, from Mears Group, added that it was an "excellent event" with plenty of relevant content.
The Working Well Together North East group encourages employees to follow site safety rules and set a good example to others.
