Public liability insurance holders in Hammersmith and Fulham could find themselves receiving a visit from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) this week.
The investigations will be carried out on firms on February 9th and 10th, focusing on how risks are managed in relation to workplace transport, machinery safety, manual handling, slips, trips and falls and working at height.
Although the inspectors will be looking at how best to provide help and advice to public liability insurance holders, enforcement action will also be taken if it is deemed necessary.
Mike Gibb, HSE principal inspector, said that as well as the distress and human price of work-related incidents and ill-health, there is also the significant cost to businesses themselves.
"Many of these injuries can easily be prevented and inspectors will be looking at how employers control risks to their own staff and members of the public," he added.
The visits to businesses will also provide an opportunity for the HSE to spread the word of its latest campaign on slips, trips and falls in the workplace, which was re-launched recently.
