The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is making amendments to its First Aid at Work (FAW) scheme to save builders liability insurance customers more time and money.
Changes will see the training course reduced from a four-day event to three days, while smaller builders liability insurance customers will also be able to take part in a special one-day course.
However, all FAW qualified first aiders will still have to attend a two-day requalification every three years.
Dr Dil Sen, HSE principal medical inspector, said that first aid training is important for builders liability insurance customers as it helps to save lives and prevent minor injuries becoming major ones.
He added: "The revised guidance will help employers to get first aid training that suits their business needs and saves them both time and money."
Under the Health and Safety Regulations 1981, employers are required to provide adequate and appropriate equipment, facilities and trained personnel to enable first aid in the work place.
