Public liability insurance holders in Aberdeen are being invited to attend a free event later this month to ensure safety during refurbishment and demolition jobs.
The half-day seminar will run at the Britannia Hotel on Thursday May 27th, and is aimed at small to medium sized companies, with figures showing that 75 per cent of all people killed or injured in building sites worked for these types of firms.
Organised by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) in conjunction with the Grampian Occupational Safety and Health Building Interest Group (GOSH), topics including structural stability, fire risk assessment and asbestos will all be covered.
Liz Standen, HSE inspector, said: "The toll of injury and ill-health in Scotland's construction industry is a real cause for concern. Events like this are designed to provide managers and company owners with the skills and knowledge to reduce risks on their sites."
Scottish public liability insurance holders can also gain useful tips from GOSH, whether they are companies or self-employed contractors.
